Nothing Like a Parade, Fair, or Circus to Bring Out the Kid in All of Us!
Jackson Hole hosts two main parades each year. The Old West Days Parade is held on Saturday over Memorial Day Weekend. The 4th of July Parade is held ON the 4th—regardless of the day of the week the holiday falls on that year. I guess I should also mention the High School Homecoming Parade and EIEIO (Eastern Idaho Early Iron Organization) Parade. There might even be a few more small parades. Check out the Calendar of Events at the JH Chamber of Commerce’s site.

Memorial Day Honor Guard: A reminder of the holiday’s significance to our country.
This page consists of images captured at the 2015 Old West Days Parade—held on a slightly soggy Saturday morning. Over our 29 years of living here, it has rained off and on regularly over the Memorial Day weekend in many of them. Almost like clockwork, the rain stops for an hour or so each year to let the parade march its way from the Rodeo Grounds to just past the Town Square. This year was no exception!
Rain Boots: Most kids would rather walk in a puddle than around one.

Old West Days:
For the shots on this page, I opted to take only a Nikon D4 and a Tamron 150-600mm lens and spend my morning capturing tight shots whenever possible. A few were actually pointed towards the parade participants, but I had a great time capturing the onlookers.

A Handful:
The parade marches generally down the middle of the streets, but maybe it’s apparent that much of the interesting “action” takes place alongside the streets and sidewalks. Watch for the upcoming 4th of July Parade here in Jackson, or capture a parade in your own home town!
