Review of Sony ICD-UX560 – Audio recorder for video

Aaron has many audio recorders but relies on his Sony ICD-UX560 for his remote and stealth filming. It’s incredibly small, so it’s easy to tuck in a pocket while speaking into a lavaliere microphone. The mics on the Sony are pretty good, too. Check out the review to see what it can do.

You can use this as a secondary recorder for your video or photography. Often the audio on a DSLR or mirrorless camera isn’t that good. Aaron uses this recorder for good, clean audio that he can synchronize in his video editing software.

FIX for the SD card write protected error

What happens when the write-protect sticks on your camera?

Your still or video camera keeps reporting that the SD card is write protected when it’s not. You’ve tried several cards, flipped the switch back and forth, and nothing seems to work. Chances are, there’s something wrong with your camera. And this video shows a potential fix.
You can try the firmware update. Some Canon users have reported that fixes the problem. Others say that Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc. said send the camera in to fix for lots of money.

This technique has the potential to DESTROY your camera. You are responsible if you wreck your camera. Sticking metal into your camera probably won’t go well and the parts are very delicate. If you’re not confident and can’t handle your camera being even more wrecked, don’t do this.

What’s the BEST SOFTBOX light kit from Amazon

I bought a studio lighting kit from Amazon for a super cheap price because I wanted to try it out and I know a secret about lighting. Light doesn’t care how much you spend. Light is light. The only thing that’s a difference is how long the gear will last and how efficient it will make you. If you’re not worried about owning ProPhoto or can stand for a little time lost, then this kit may just be for you. I’m using this for quick client demos, product reviews, and my Youtube channel.

Other light kits on Amazon cost $220-$1500. This kit is in the two-digit price range! So far I’m very happy. I review the critical parts in the kit. There are some flaws to be sure, but this is pretty hard to pass up.

Slik SPRINT VIDEO Travel Tripod Review

Aaron’s FAVORITE Travel Tripod: Slik SPRINT VIDEO Travel Tripod with Fluid-Effect 2-Way Panhead

What tripod does Aaron use in the backcountry and on travel? It’s the “same” tripod as Survivorman Les Stroud. It’s handy, light, pretty versatile, and not expensive. It’s served Aaron well and he uses it for a lot of his Youtube channel videography.

It can’t hold a huge camera or a big lens. But for backcountry travel where you need something, it’s great. Watch the video to see how it might work for you.
