As the members of the Peer Mentor Program improve their photo-eye it can be educational to have some monthly peer mentor themes that specifically emphasize composition.  Taking these photos and “voting” on these compositional themes should begin with thoughtful consideration of the chosen theme.

You could say that using Leading Lines is an essential skill for advancing your photography.  OK, it may not be essential but if you start looking for leading lines in your everyday life it could have quite an impact.  And, you are likely to find leading lines everywhere you go.  These articles will give you lots of example and could fire-up your curiosity to find them.

“How to Use Leading Lines in Your Photography” in Format is a good start to reflect on what to look for in the hundreds of views that have leading lines.  The author uses this as a definition “Leading lines is an image composition technique that features line shapes to draw the viewer’s eye to the intended subject of the photograph.” and presents a wide variety of photographs.  The key to leading lines is to look for them everywhere.

“Leading Lines in Photography” by John Tunney.  Leading Lines in photography is a common guide to a fairly basic way to improve an image.  That is not to say that any image can be improved with leading lines, but if you believe your photo has depth that you feel invites the viewer then slight LR Adjustments can make improvements.  This articles gives some suggestions.

“Define Leading Lines in Photography (with 20+ examples )” by Shivani Reddy uses 20 examples, most of weddings,  to point out a variety of uses for leading lines.
